In 6th grade my uncle gave me his copy "Rapper's Delight." He didn't have his record player anymore. I'd always heard pop rap on the radio and wasn't a big fan of it. But my uncle put "Rapper's Delight" in my hands and said, "this is hip hop." The first hip hop single to be recorded laid the ground work for what hip hop would become today. It's also really funny, with lyrics about going to a friend's house to eat when the food just ain't no good.
The album impacted me to look into the history of music genres before I judge them.
